Hello, my name is Sophia!
I am a visual communicator living in London. The past few years at LCC have allowed me to explore the world of graphic design as well as encouraged me to develop my areas of interest in typography, branding, identity, logo design and activism.

Below, I have presented my 3rd year projects. One project is a Positioning & Industry brief, this is where I was able to explore typography, using factors from my home town. Another project showcases one of the final major projects titled ‘Desire To Waste’ and the last displays the other final major project which was creating a mental health campaign for an agency brief called ‘Open Conversation’.

Positioning & Industry

The purpose of this project was to showcase ‘The Seen, Unseen and the Inbetween’ elements from my local area. For this, I looked at ‘The Seen’ which is the geometry of pavement tiles, turning them 3D. ‘The Unseen’ is made from soundwaves from the high street, specifically the loudest soundwave to design a type specimen. Lastly, ‘The Inbetween’ is about the cracks in the pavement replicated through wire.

Desire to Waste

To create a visual identity for an event series at the V&A. My project intention was to capture the negative essence of human desire and its relation to waste. I wanted to showcase how humans’ desirable passion for consumption affects the environment on a global scale.

Open Conversation

Open Conversation was about creating a campaign to raise awareness and encourage Gen Z to open up and start a conversation about their mental health. Finding a way to empower teenagers to speak about this, I set myself the challenge to create a campaign for an audience of 14–16 years old boys, as they are the group who stereotypically don’t speak about their mental health.

My decision to infuse football graphics and find a loophole to combine it with football language allowed me to focus on this audience and attempt to gain engagement from the target audience.
